KEMRON - Arrowhead JV (KAJV), a joint venture between Overland Park, KS - based Arrowhead Contracting and Atlanta, GA-based KEMRON Environmental Services, Inc., was selected through a competitive procurement for award of a performance-based contract providing remediation services at the PCE Carriage Cleaners Superfund Site located in Bellevue, NE.
The site is a former dry-cleaning facility located in a congested historic downtown business district. The selected remedy includes a combination of technologies including In-Situ Thermal Remediation (ISTR) to remove vadose zone soil contaminants and vapor/steam recovery by above-ground soil vapor extraction (SVE). The thermal treatment zone for OU 1 covers approximately 9,750 square feet and extends from the surface to a depth of approximately 60 feet below ground surface and equates to approximately 14,100 cubic yards. Contamination is present under occupied buildings, city streets, and public use areas. The site-specific cleanup level for PCE in soil associated with OU 1 is 1 mg/kg.
The Remedial Action Objectives for the project are prevention of PCE contamination migration in soil that would result in groundwater contamination above levels that are protective of beneficial use and reduction of the inhalation exposure to building occupants
to PCE in soil gas, originating from contaminated soil, above acceptable risk levels.
The project will be carried out as a task ord er under the EPA CLIN - 2 Remediation Environmental Services ID/IQ Program. The task order will be administered by EPA Region VII. The contract has a 36-month Period of Performance.
