EPA Selects KEMRON-Arrowhead JV for Award of the Mississippi Phosphates NTCRA Phase 2 and 3 project in Pascagoula, MS

Arrowhead Contracting is pleased to announce that KEMRON-Arrowhead JV (KAJV), a joint venture between KEMRON Environmental Services, Inc. and Arrowhead, has been selected through a competitive best-value procurement for award of a task order to provide remediation services at the Mississippi Phosphates Corporation (MPC) Superfund Site Non-Time Critical Removal Action (NTCRA) Phase 2 and 3 project in Pascagoula, Mississippi.

The site is a is an abandoned diammonium phosphate fertilizer plant that has undergone various remediation efforts since 2016. A key feature of the work will include construction of a 2,700-ft-long by 25-ft-deep soil-cement-bentonite slurry wall, extending the existing perimeter containment wall surrounding the entire East Gypsum Stack footprint.

The project also requires closure of the North Ponds area comprising four interconnected water storage lagoons and access roads. The total size of the North Ponds area is 28.9 acres. Closure of the ponds will require dewatering, sludge stabilization, backfilling, and grading. The ponds will then be covered with a 50-mil LLDPE liner overlain by a tufted, turf-protected geomembrane with sand infill material.

The project will be carried out as a task order under the EPA CLIN-2 Remediation Environmental Services (RES) ID/IQ Program and will be administered by EPA Region 4. Most of the fieldwork will be completed within 24 months of award. The contract value is approximately $15.4M.
